our zero was pretty low key. a relatively late wake up followed by a hitch into town, again riding in the back of a pickup. we passed a sheriff and looked up the legality of riding in the back of a pickup. totally legal in nh and vt. bugs says it’s apparently also legal in texas, but only if the cab is full.

in town we went to a bakery and then coffee. the bakery had some really delicious croissants and scones, so i got both.

we sat in a pvc bubble outside the coffee place and relaxed for a while before heading to the post office, where bugs needed to go, and then tried to hitch a few miles to rei and the hannaford’s.

the hitch took a while but finally another hiker stopped. her car was essentially 2 seats and a dog den. bugs, lyric, and rocket climbed in the dog den with the two tiny blue heelers. it was a riot.

i grabbed a backpacker’s pantry pad thai at rei, mostly because the pouch i have been using for dinners is showing signs of wear. i also grabbed a pile of clif bars.

we headed to hannaford’s for the rest. see, thru hiking isn’t always exciting.

as we exited the supermarket and were walking across the parking lot, it rained, but literally only for 5 minutes.

we got a hitch at the intersection in another pickup. when we reached the hotel, everyone packed up their food whilevwe watched “jason bourne”. afterwards we went to the pool, hot tub, and kick and i hit the sauna too.

the rest of the afternoon was watching movies, journalling, and catching up on the blog.
