vacation

i forgot to write a journal entry for my last day on trail before my week off. it was a short day. i hiked from the cheshire town tent site up greylock and down the other side to north adams where magz picked me up.

vacation was great. i saw a number of friends, drank my homemade coffee, spent some time relaxing, went on a few walks, and generally took it easy. i didn’t get caught up on the blog though.

on friday i drove to north adams and picked up bugs, lyric, and rocket and brought them to the house. we had some lunch and then took a hike over to the farm for ice cream. for dinner we had pastalone (a lasagna like dish made from plantains) i had talked up on the trail and watched a movie.

on saturday we went tubing, followed by pizza, and then magz, bugs, lyric, and rocket went home while i drove back to north adams to pick up maestro. i also shuttled a section hiker from the trail to the city. we had hoped to go out to beers, but it was late, so leftover pastalone and more tv.

sunday morning kick got dropped off by his parents. the whole family was together again for the first time in 1000 miles! the entire crew came over to the farm and helped throw hay bales into the farm. afterward we took a quick dip in the river. david (the farmer) showed up with post-work ice cream sandwiches ans kombucha. we downed them and then headed over the mountain so we could make it to treehouse for beers before they closed. we had talked about grilling up some steaks, but to get them would have taken time, so instead we headed to magz’ old work restaurant for dinner. it’s a farm to table type place, and everyone loved the food.
