spruce peak shelter to lost pond shelter

i got to sleep in a bit this morning. bugs had friends that were joining her for the morning and they offered to pack up some bagels to the shelter.

i packed up and moved to the picnic table and chatted with bugs for a few minutes until mimi and rich arrived with the spread. in addition to bagels and cream cheese there was also cheese and scones.

we all headed off together and hiked the few miles to the road. it was the road where i hitchhiked for the first time, and the parking lot where magz and i got off the long trail after her digestive issues.

bugs, lyric, and rocket went in the car with mimi and rich. kick, maestro, and i hitched. it took a minute, but a guy in a pickup brought us to town. we resupplied at the price chopper and then headed to the mountain goat, the local outfitter, and finally to charlie’s for coffee and food where we met up with the others.

bugs, lyric, and rocket still had to resupply. though they had got to town before us, they had to go to walgreens to get a doxy prescription for bugs who has a big bullseye rash on her back. kick, maestro, and i walked through town with out thumbs out and a guy in a mini van pulled over and brought us to the trailhead.

the three of us hiked up bromley mountain, summiting around 13:00. we ate lunch sitting on the chairlift.

bugs, lyric, and rocket arrived a little while later. we realized no one was there to prevent us from going up the stairs into the machine room of the chairlift. it looked like the inside of a spaceship.

there was also some hacky sack with a new sack kick got at the mountain goat.

maestro and i took off first, realizing we had somr miles to do to get to camp. we hiked together for a while chatting, and eventually got to griffith lake where i took a quick swim before getting back on trail. for the duration of the afternoon i listened to my audio book.

i got to camp around 19:00, pretty late for me. maestro arrived about 10 minutes later. there was no time to relax. tent went up, water was got, dinner was made, and by then i had barely enough time to journal before it got dark. bugs, kick, lyric, and rocket must have stopped somewhere else because they didn’t show up.
