the night was warm and dry. it started with a very noisy whippoorwill, but it moved away thankfully. it was nice to be in my tent again. so much more room and i didn’t have to worry as much about disturbing the others when i blew up my sleeping pad.
i started stirring pretty early. i wanted to get on trail and get to town. everyone else followed suit a few minutes behind me. i saved a little time and fuel by eating 3 packs of belvita for breakfast instead of my normal oatmeal. they were okay. dry, and it felt like i was eating cookies for breakfast. i’m not sure i’ll do that again unless i’m in a pinch.
we all stuck together for the trek into town. the day was beautiful and the trail easy. once again we decended into spring, and this time into what felt like early summer.
the trail entered town practically right in front of our hotel, though we had to cross a busy 4 lane road to get there. we checked in and immediately left for the bbq joint where i stuffed my face with meat and beer.
from there we went to the outfitter and grocery store for our resupply, followed by goodwill because lyric wanted to see if they had a hawiian shirt he liked. they didn’t. we headed back to the hotel to shower, organize food, and do laundry. i removed and repatched my sleeping pad in the hopes that i could stop the leak. i also took some time to update the blog, though it’s still a few days behind.
i called magz who updated me on the nemo situation, which is that the tracking says “label created” (4 days before) and when she emails or calls, they tell her to check the tracking number. ::facepalm:: nemo, you’re failing.
maestro and i went next door for mexican for dinner. bugs and lyric were still full of bbq. i ate another pile of food, and managed to save a tamale for breakfast.
before bed i attempted to reattach my failing sole to my xero shoes.
all in all, a pretty good day.
pictures today are pretty much just a pile of views:
