brushy mountain outpost to jenny's knob shelter

short day today. i’m using the free time to get caught up on my journal images so when i have wifi i can upload it all.

slept well last night behind the outpost. i had to wake up a few times to reinflate my pad. despite the weather report, it didn’t rain last night and i woke to sun. there was quite a bit of dew though and my tent was soaked. i packed up and put my tent in the sun and went to the picnic tables (where bugs slept) to make breakfast, forgetting that the outpost also had breakfast. i ate my customary oatmeal, and then headed inside to order a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich.

we got going quite late- it was a little past 10, but we were only hiking 12 miles. we crossed rt 77 and had a brief road walk to get back into the woods.

the trail started steep, but pretty quickly we were on the ridge and it flattened out. it rained a bit during the morning, but not enough to cause the trail to get muddy or slippery. we stopped at around 12:30 for a snack, and then motored the last 3 miles to jenny’s knob shelter, where we immediately took the whole thing over.
